WHO WE ARE?

Zen Ceramics is established in 2009 at one of İstanbul’s most historical place, Galata, by two entrepreneurs Mrs. Zuhal Bilginalp and Mrs.Nihal Sarıoğlu. In their Atellier they produce hand made, unique porcelain objects plates and cups suitable for daily use. They are mostly inspired by “İstanbul “ the city they live in, as well as the Anatolian Culture. Their design and production team is highly creative and innovative.

Zuhal BİLGİNALP
She was born in İstanbul. She get her BA degree from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Ceramic & Glass Arts at 1989. After some educational and business experiences in Turkey and in Germany she get her Thesis Master of Arts in Ceramic Arts at 2006 from Marmara University, Institute of Fine Arts.  The subject of her thesis is : “Magic, used as the definition object, in the forming of Art, from the ancient times to modern day. ”.
After various exhibition, seminar and Art Gallery management experiences , they established ZEN CERAMICS with her dear friend and also an artist of ceramics, Nihal Sarıoğlu at one of İstanbul’s most historical and touristic places, Galata.
Since the day Zen Ceramics is established they are aiming to produce porcelain art objects and they try to create a scope for the new artists.

NİHAL SARIOĞLU (1958 / Turkey)
She graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1980. After a 20-year career in this field, in 2008, she received her Master’s degree from the Ceramics Department of the Institute of Fine Arts, Marmara University. Her thesis on “Water-soluble Ceramic Colorants” is a junction of the two spheres of her professional and artistic interests. Sarioglu presented a paper on this study to the 2008 Seres International Congress held in Eskişehir.  In June 2009 she gave a conference and led a workshop on same topic at the Vitra Ceramic Arts Atelier. Her study on experiments with water-soluble metallic salts applied on terracotta was submitted to the 2010 Eskişehir International Terracotta Symposium. She has exhibited her works at several collective expositions. She taught chemistry and thechnology in Kocaeli University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics in 2013/2014. Presently, she works at Zen Ceramic in İstanbul.

Hatice KUL
She was born in Malatya in 1986. Aftertakingonesemester of ceramicclass at Beylerbeyi İnstitute in 2006, sheattendedtoUniversity of Kocaeli, Faculty of FineArts, Department Of Ceramic in 2007. With her graduationproject “ TheParticipation of TheObserverstoThe Art Object after 1960”sheget her B.A. degreefromthisFaculty.
During her educationsheattendedmanynationalandinternationalexhibitions. Hatice Kul, is continueing her artisticstudies at Zen Ceramic since 2010.


Mustafa Caner KURT
He was born in İstanbul in 1983. He started his associate degree in 2002 at University of Marmara, Vocational School of Technical Sciences. In 2004 he started at the Ceramics Department in the University of Marmara, Faculty of Fine Arts. By using the opportunity of taking double Majors of his University he started in the Department of Industrial Products Design as a second Major in 2006. In 2009 he get his first B.A. in Ceramics with a degree. While continuing his second Major, he attended to "Escola De Arte Antonio Failde" art school in Spain for one semester in 2011. He graduated from the Department of Industrial Products Design and get his second B.A. In 2012 Mustafa Caner Kurt, attended many national and international studies during his education,  is now continuing his studies in ZEN Ceramic.
